Curtin Malaysia continues to offer Foundation Scholarships for outstanding school-leavers in Miri
Posted date:Miri – 4 August 2018 – High achieving and academically meritorious students from top-performing secondary schools in Miri are encouraged to apply for Curtin Malaysia Foundation Scholarships to undertake one-year Foundation programmes at Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) in time for its current Semester 2 intake.
The full and partial scholarships amounting to RM3 million are being offered in the lead up to Curtin Malaysia’s 20th Anniversary year next year to acknowledge the significant support and encouragement of the local community.
Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers with outstanding results, especially, should take the opportunity to apply through their school principals or counsellors before the close of the intake.
Upon successful completion of their Foundation year, the students will be able to pursue world-class degrees with Curtin Malaysia – the largest Australian international campus in the world and Curtin University’s largest international campus and global hub in Asia.
With campuses in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius, and connections with over 90 partner institutions across the world, Curtin University is widely recognised as a global university ranked in the top one percent of universities globally in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
According to Curtin Malaysia’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive Professor Mienczakowski, the Curtin Malaysia Foundation Scholarships are specifically designed to further improve access and equity for high achieving students from lower socio-economic backgrounds to high quality tertiary education at Curtin Malaysia.
“We want to give deserving students who might not have the financial means the opportunity to get a world-class education and globally-recognised Curtin degrees with us. They will also get the opportunity to study in a unique international and cross-cultural environment with domestic students from all over Malaysia, and international students from over 50 countries,” said Professor Mienczakowski.
He added that, as by far the highest globally-ranked university in Borneo and as a global university which is consistently ranked amongst the leading one percent of universities worldwide, Curtin wants to reward academically outstanding local students, to help them realise their potential, get a world-class qualification, graduate with high practical employability, and achieve their career and life ambitions.
The scholarships will be for study in the Foundation in Commerce, Foundation in Engineering, Foundation in Science and Foundation in Arts (Media) courses taught at Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Business, Faculty of Engineering and Science and Faculty of Humanities, respectively. All are recognised and approved by the Ministry of Higher Education.
Eligible candidates must be nominated by, and apply through, their school principals or counsellors, and application forms have distributed to the respective schools. All required documents should be attached with the application forms and the candidates must attend selection interviews called by the university.
